Grayson is a tortured soul controlled by the demons of his past. He was betrayed by his wife and bestfriend and has never gotten over it. He’s a boxing trainer by day, mafia enforcer by night.

Here comes Maddie, a ray of sunshine in Grayson’s life. Maddie shifts Grayson’s whole world after one spontaneous kiss. She isn't scared of the monster that Grayson can be. She is smart, sassy and full of life everything he needs.

I just adored  their hate to love, frenemies to lovers thing they had going on. The banter was on point and the spice was oh so nice. This book had the perfect amount of mafia murder and mayhem, suspense, tension and sass. Grayson fell so hard for Maddie and was so possessive. Maddie was fierce and never backed down.

I am so excited to dive right into Devoted, book 3 Luca Russo here I come!

As always check your trigger warnings this is a mafia romance with dark topics.

Maddie and Grayson ❤️‍🔥 I love this interconnected series. Distance still being my favorite though.
You go on a whirlwind of lust, spice and bloody encounters. If murder is not your thing, this book isn’t for you.
If you adore mafia romances, especially with touch her and die vibes – don’t miss out on this! Excited to get into the next story 💜

I went into this book so excited thinking I’m gna find my new fav read but it did not go the way I expected 😭

The writing was so poor I found it hard to read without cringing badly. Not only was the inner monologue insufferable but the dialogue felt robotic and fake. There was no emotion??

it’s marketed as a standalone but actually relies heavily on the first book, which I didn’t read, to build the foundation of the story.

I couldn’t connect with the characters and their motivations at all.

I’m so upset because I truly did want to enjoy this ☹️💔

ೃ⁀➷ Thank you NetGalley and Hambright PR for the ARC! ♥︎

Boring. Lots of just ok sex. Plot had a lot of potential, but the story fell short unfortunately.

Maddie and Grayson!
I love them.
Touch her and die.
Grayson hasn't kissed anyone in 7 years.  That is until he helped save Maddie's best friend and she kissed him in gratitude.
Grayson is the sexy tattooed hit man for the mafia.  He tried with all his might to stay away from Maddie. He didn't want to deal with the pain of love.  Maddie is like a tidal wave against the shore... she will wear you down.
I think they are both afraid of love but can't help falling head first into it with each other.
He even takes her on a date to London.  Just hop on a plane randomly to London for the weekend.  #dreamlife
Poor Keller lost the $10,000 bet with Luca about Grayson and Maddie getting together. Turns out you can't kiss and then pick on each other for a year without getting together. Silly Keller should have known better!

Devoured this book and couldn't get enough of Grayson and Maddie!  The tension between these two is so thick and I love their banter! I also listened to the audio while reading and that is narrated in dual by Maxine Mitchell and Robert Hatchet and they did a wonderful job!  While this is the 2nd book in the Beneath the Mask series, it can be read as a standalone - although I do recommend reading Distance first!

What to expect:
-Mafia
-Age gap
-Ex-military
-Morally grey MMC
-Possessive MMC
-Touch her & die

Grayson doesn’t do love. A former military man turned emotionally guarded, he was betrayed by the two people he trusted most: his wife and his best friend, now a mafia hitman. Grayson keeps things simple: no attachments, no kisses, just physical release with no strings.

Maddie believes in fairy tales. She’s searching for her Prince Charming: someone kind, dependable, and safe. Instead, she finds Grayson: dangerous, brooding, and all wrong for her or so she thinks.

But sometimes, love detonates when you least expect it.

Detonate follows Maddie and Grayson from their explosive first kiss to a journey neither of them saw coming. Can Grayson be everything Maddie never knew she always needed?

From the moment Detonate began, I was hooked—completely immersed in Maddie and Grayson’s storm of a connection. Their dynamic crackled with unresolved tension, a slow-burn kind of electricity that never lets up. If you’re into emotionally charged love stories with a side of chaos, this one delivers.

Grayson's past is finally revealed and it bring so much clarity to his behavior. His ex-wife did a number on him and he's built up a wall of bricks due to the serious emotional damage she has done. Maddie kicks *ss in this book and the banter and foreplay between the two is a chef's kiss. Well done Luna Mason!

Beyond the romance, the side plots keep the pace brisk and the suspense high. Just when you think you’ve figured things out, a curveball hits—and suddenly, you're flipping pages faster than ever. That ending? Let’s just say it sets the stage for the next book in the best way possible.

Detonate follows directly on from where Distance left off in the Beneath the Mask series. It can be read as a standalone story, but this series is so good, so just go with them all
