Idk why this is rated so low. This book is phenomenal! It’s so ridiculously stupid that it’s fantastic. I didn’t want to put it down I kept going picking it back up. It’s a crazy ridiculous ride.
I’ve read lord of the flies so I did have an idea of what to expect but it exceeded my expectations and then some. It truly is a modern take on the classic.
Also the title itself gets 5 stars.
I picked this up because I read her other book the Mary Shelley club and I enjoyed it and I wanted to read another book by her. And honestly I think I’m gonna read her other books too.
But I need a cringey CW teen drama made from this book and I need it now!

I read "The Mary Shelley Club" by Moldavsky last year and really enjoyed it, but I'll also say that Frankenstein is my favorite classic. With this book, I do think I kind of set myself up for failure, as I hated Lord of the Flies when I read it a few years ago. Predictably, a book based on it would not be my cup of tea. There were points, though, when I really did like this book, and where the satirical elements of the plot landed. However, overall, I just couldn't get all the way into it. I definitely think one of those reasons is the fact that a character is named Hella Badid... for some reason that just really was bothering me.
