This one really didn’t do it for me. It was a cute continuation of the series . Oscar and Gio were an adorable couple. To me some of the story just felt forced. I usually enjoy the professor/student trope or even second chances but I wasn’t really digging this one. If you’ve read the other books in the series then you are bound to enjoy this one.
Wonderful final!!! Love it!
Contains: second chance, late awakening and coming out (ex-wife, twins kids)
After being reject at uni by his straight professor, Oscar is beyond happy to learn that is newly divorced professor is not as straight as he though and he finally have his chance to his hea, but is there age gap a problem? Does Oscar see himself in life with teenagers?
I remove a star bc they seem to all be happy and sweet no left anger or revenge, no doubt about their feeling for each other, etc. I would have thought that Oscar would have approached the situation with much more reluctance and put walls around his heart to protect himself.

I really enjoyed this series by Mia. Each book was easy and quick to read. I loved that each character found their own HEA while working at the hotel. The mystery of the flamingos was finally revealed and felt like it was enough to unwrap in another book.
This was such a good end of a series. It’s was, sweet, hot and entertaining with the vandalism mystery I love every second of it. I love the characters so much and was so happy that Oscar finally had is HEA after helping all the other characters their own HEA. So worth reading.

When Oscar runs into his long-time crush, it's a shock to his system. What's even more shocking is that the unrequited feelings he held for his former professor may not be all that unrequited after all.
We'd seen bits of Oscar throughout the series, offering sound advice and generally being a solid friend to his Hillcrest Hideaway family. I was really anxious to read his story, and I'm so glad he got his shot at finding love again - or rather, sort of getting a second chance with Gio.
Oscar and Gio communicate well from the beginning. They're open and honest with each other about where they are in their lives, and their attraction and feelings for each other. With Gio especially, he's honest about his journey in exploring his sexuality, and where he's at in terms of coming out to his family.
While they do know each other from the past, they're learning who the other has grown to be now. They accept each other, unconditionally, and want to build something solid together. And every step of the way, they communicate with each other, and rely on each other for support. And I love that.
What I love about this series, and all of Mia Monroe's series, is that the plots are hugely character driven. And I absolutely love strong characterization, and character development. I love this series so much for that. For making me emotionally invested in the Hillcrest Hideaway family, and for making me care about them all finding their happily ever afters.

Probably my least favourite of the series. It seemed to me that the author was setting the characters outside of the MC’s up for a longer series but for whatever reason changed her mind and tried to tie things up in a little bow which just seemed forced.
The flamingo thing was a bit anticlimactic as well, hence the impression I got.

A low angst love story
This book has no angst and just goes through the motions of a love story. You are almost waiting for the crash or the drama to come but it doesn't. I'm not sure if that is what the book needs to make it more realistic. It's why its 4 stars from me. Altogether, it's a cute story with likeable characters.

I've watched Oscar's character evolve from a swinging single to a man longing for connection as each of his friends found their HEA in the first three books in the California Crush series, and while you'll enjoy the story as a standalone, you'll see the subtle changes in his persona from book to book if you start at the beginning... plus, now that the series is complete, it's binge-worthy!
