This book was so emotional. I really enjoyed the story and hearing about Ove’s life. Seeing how he was able to grow made me so happy. It really loved seeing the relationships develop throughout the story as well. Fredrick Backman’s writing is so moving and really pulls you in. Would recommend this book!

Trigger warning: multiple suicide attempts in this book. Would not recommend for someone who has struggled with this, lost a family member to suicide, or had someone close to them attempt. If you have any PTSD this could be very triggering.
emotional hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

4.5 ⭐️I love the character of Ove. Despite his prickly outer shell he is a total softy underneath. The story touches on grief, loss, community and companionship. Check trigger warnings before you read bc there is discuss of suicide/ideation in the story.
emotional funny sad medium-paced

This story made me laugh and cry actual tears in the space of two pages. My new all time favourite book!

My god, this will be one of my favourite books for probably the rest of my life. This had me crying and laughing at the same time and I just feel so fond of Ove, as if he was someone I knew.
Fredrik Backman I will be reading your entire catalogue, and I’m so excited.
