I love Nate as a character, especially in the audio version. And I loved the way Box ended this one, he's not afraid to go for a darker outcome than you were expecting
One of my favorites of C.J. Box so far. I know this is fiction, but some of the stuff about the wind power is true. There are always 2 sides. Also, I like how the characters, Joe Pickett and Nate Romanowski, are growing and changing.

I don't accept Joe's role in this whole mess--not the legal system accepting his meddling nor Marybeth's insistence on it nor Joe doing it. None of that makes sense.
Equally nonsensical is Bud's role in Nate's situation.
Missy deserves far more. Interesting juxtaposition between the parallel actions of Missy and Nate.
Didn't like Alisha's end.
So 1/4 star for the plot.

Another great Joe Pickett novel. I'm enjoying seeing Joe pick up some Nate-like qualities while still remaining a "do-gooder" at heart. I also enjoyed the sub-plot surrounding Nate and can't wait to learn more about his story. I found the look into the wind turbines popping up around our state to be thought-provoking, as I do with the topics covered in other CJ Box books.
