Never in my life was I convinced so quickly that something was going to be amazing. Right from the start, I was sucked into the story and I read it in one go.
'The Nine Princes of Amber' has some flaws in its magic system, but I did not care one bit about it. The way this was written is extremely engaging.
Even though this is a short book, it succeeds in explaining and introducing a couple of very cool and interesting concepts.
If you love fantasy, I highly recommend reading this one. You won't regret it.

So first I have to say the narrator for this book is amazing, he does a really great job of differentiating all the voices, yet still each one of them is understandable. Something that a lot of narrators seem to struggle with.
It's kind of a mystery, with a sci-fi, with a fantasy. I admit it's pretty funny in many places too, and I enjoy the author sense of humor.
However, I must say I don't actually like any of the characters and for me that's kind of a big deal. If I don't like a character and I can't relate to anybody, I'm probably not gonna continue the book.
I did finish this one though, The main character is not necessarily likeable, at least he's not a terrible person. He's not annoying, he's not stupid.
There are some issues that I really didn't understand though, that don't seem to be cohesive with the rest of the story.
Like the main character lifts up entire Mercedes and carries it around, with only the help of one other person . Yet when he's trapped in a dungeon, with the door only 2 inches thick, he can't move it? He can't just rip that thing off the hinges? And he got thrown in the dungeon by regular guards. Supposedly it's only the nobles and the princes that have superior strength, so I didn't rip those guys apart?
So that was kind of huge gaping plot in my opinion, especially when the author spent so many times letting us know how strong the main character was.
Not particularly deep, really not much character depth or progression, a super quick read. I think I'll keep the others on my wish list, so if they ever come out for free or for a super sale on audible I'll grab them. But I don't think I'll really continue them at full price.
