What a read! I knew, in passing, about Britney Spears being under a conservatorship, but never knew how bad it was. The way she detailed her confined life during those 13 years was so heartbreaking. Even in the way she writes, you can feel how much she was stunted in order to be their money bag. It wasn't the best writing; it was the writing of someone with all this anger and sadness and confusion and loneliness, who is finally free and wants the world to know what happened to her.

Really added perspective of the #FreeBrittany Movement and the ways that conservership can bee used to really hurt the people they are supposed to help.

This book was so good but so sad. Her perspective of her conservatorship and how she lived it changes your perspective of how her life was portrayed. I like how she writes straight to the point and isn’t trying to fluff any details or try to sound too literary.
Her dad is insane and I feel bad for her and her kids. It’s crazy how much her relationship with Justin Timberlake affected her life.
It’s a definite read!

I am still thinking about this book weeks after reading it. I admire her so much for taking back control and telling her story. My biggest takeaway from this book and Prince Harry’s is having so much more empathy for celebrities and the scrutiny they live under. There’s so much to be said about ethics, mental health, misogyny, and trauma in these pages, and I think it would make for interesting book club discussion.

This book definitely captivated me.

Growing up in the 90's I was a fan of the young Britney Spears, but I didn't really pay attention to her personal life, and knew quite little about it. This book helped fill in a lot of those gaps.

The poor girl! That's what I thought through most of this book. All she wanted was to be loved, have a family, sing, dance, and have God in her life. Unfortunately, she didn't have very nice people in her life, and her mental health suffered and she became quite traumatized from it all. I hope she continues to find healing.

There was definitely some language in the book, but maybe I should have expected that from this type of memoir.

I started listening to Britney’s memoir with an open heart and mind, to learn about her life and experiences. To hear about her childhood, adolescence, and adulthood in her own words.

This is a very dark memoir and it was Britney’s chance to tell her side of the story. She does just that.

I’ve ranked this audiobook so low for a few reasons, but I don’t know how much of that has to do with the fact that I’m not a fan.

Britney clearly struggled at various times in her life, and the people she should have been able to count on let her down repeatedly. But a lot of the things she said from her POV gave me the ick.

I don’t wish ill on Britney,  I’m glad she is out of the conservatorship, and I hope she is at peace. I understand from this—and other celebrity memoirs—that being a child star and a celebrity can come with a lot of struggles.

Britney’s life sounds to have been a hard one from a young age and I’m glad she wrote her side of the story for the world. Simply because this wasn’t a memoir I cared about doesn’t mean it was a bad one.
