The rating has more to do with the writing than the substance of the book. It was still very interesting to learn her perspective and hear her truth, even if it wasn't extremely deep or wise as some memoirs aim to be. In many ways it felt like an extended interview, which I overall liked. I have a lot of respect and care for her.

Britney Spears has had a hard career. It was eye-opening to hear everything that happened to her from her perspective rather than the media's perspective. Parts were really hard to listen to but I feel like it's so important for her to have a voice. One struggle that I had was with the writing. It seemed like it could have been organized a little bit better. Parts seemed to bounce around.

Britney depicts trauma in a way that is both simple and profoundly tragic. She gives a lot of grace — perhaps too much — to the major game changers in her life, while also allowing herself room to be human. I found myself mourning the life she could have led as an artist and mother, and I am in awe of her strength to plow forward in spite of everything that has been taken from her.

I do wonder how accurate this book is, as I assume it was written by a ghost writer with her input. Some parts feel a little too forgiving of the more egregious crimes. But you can definitely tell it’s her “voice” — that raw, unedited sass and her unrelenting perspective of goodness. It was a quick, touching, and thought-provoking read.

What a privilege to be allowed behind the curtain of Britney’s experience. As most of the reviews have said, rating a memoir is a difficult task. I loved hearing more about Britney’s childhood as well as her experience with the conservatorship. Michelle Williams did a phenomenal job bringing Britney’s words to life in the audiobook. I am so proud of Britney for advocating for herself and telling her side. I hope she can do as she wishes now and just be a human.

What to make of a person's story that by all means should have ended with the perpetrators in jail - but sadly didn't.

Britney tried hard to find the silver linings she can in this memoir, but one can tell from how much is omitted that there is yet much to process.

Did I expect to learn more? Yes, but frankly I don't feel comfortable judging the book based on how much detailed trauma it contained.

I can say that the real person, the one behind the star, remains ever elusive, in part due to being filtered through a ghostwriter, in part due to this book being a surprisingly short read.

The important part is that this book is hers, and however much she is willing to share ought to be enough. Even if it means this book was more of an entrée than the big meal I expected I came away satisfied.

Britney has done amazing job telling her story, she explains her perspective and her experience, I listened to the audiobook and Michelle Williams did a beautiful job. I'm glad Britney has been able to share her story and I am glad she clearly has a lot motivating her to move forward.
