Just finished reading 'I Let You Go' by Clare Macintosh. Trashy read really, kinda along the same lines as Girl On The Train, but enjoyable nonetheless. Good twist that developed slowly. 3 stars, but a good 3 stars.

Really twisty! I said “wait, what?!” Several times. TW there is a lot of physical and emotional abuse in this book that I didn’t know about before picking it up. Just something to be aware of. The author was a police officer for years and this book is based off of a case she worked and also after the loss of her son.

Now I was pretty excited for this book. I don't why but it was giving me "Still Missing" by Chevy Stevens vibes and I really enjoyed that book. I feel like emotional thriller books are underrated. But I don't know what it was but I really just couldn't get into this book. I think I wasn't vibing with the format in which this story was told. It would shift from 1st person to 3rd person (which is fine), but I already wasn't vibing with the story so that little detail was just exacerbated my experience. I also just found myself being bored throughout the whole thing. I just don't think I was in the mood for this type of thriller right now. Considering I only made it to page 32 before I dnfed I'd consider giving it another go in the future, but I don't think it's the book for me right now.

Emotional, tense and well paced. Domestic abuse in the story which I’m not a fan of reading about

Mixed emotions about this one. It was pretty hyped up by a booktuber I like, so I think I went in with too high of expectations. The subject matter was dark and the themes were upsetting, but it did feel raw and emotional and expertly done. I wouldn't recommend it if you are easily triggered because it has a lot of upsetting content, but if you are into psychological thrillers it's a decent read and goes by quick.

I finally got round to reading this book after all the good reviews it has received. It was an ok read. Not exactly worth the hype in my opinion. Everyone kept talking about 'the twist'. There was I suppose a twist in the middle but after that I kept wondering if that was it or if there was something more to come but there wasn't really and I had pretty much worked out the rest of the book.
I found the police really annoying. Couldn't understand why it delved so much into their personal lives. It seemed really pointless to me and added nothing to the story.
