If ‘tone,’ of delivery is really important to you then Marin Ireland may be your choice of narrator. Ireland delivers just the right edge of cynicism. This narrator on Audiobooks delivers the interior dialogue of Blythe with finesse and aplomb as she fights to stay a good mom regardless of who precipitates the battle for her heart/ soul.

What a duo!! Audrain for her courage to broach this very sensitive topic and Ireland for orating her words and breathing an additional zest into them.

Hands down excellent story telling at its finest!!!

The plot was captivating and the writing compelling, and while I enjoyed the read, it felt like I was reading the same thing for half the book. Blythe’s feelings and the situation never changed. There was no momentum. If this book had been sliced in half, I think it would have been a 5 star read for me.

The Push is unsettling in the best way a psychological drama/thriller should be. I read the first few chapters very slowly over nearly two weeks and finished the rest of the book in a single night - couldn't put it down.

i found this book to be incredibly predictable and not at all shocking.
no shit violet pushed sam and killed him???? like that was blatantly obvious?? i never once doubted blythe and knew violet was a fucking psychopath

there was an interesting discussion about nature v. nurture and motherhood, though it was nothing new or revolutionary. i found myself bored and struggling to get through this book, mostly due to the predictability.

blythe was supposed to be an "unreliable" narrator but i found myself on her side and always believed her. also, i couldn't stand fox. he was not a supportive partner and absolutely gaslit blythe???? the way he constantly defended violet (oftentimes at blythe's expense) was troubling
and is a convincing correlation for where she got her psychopathic tendencies.

i did like the short chapters and different timelines, though it did not really do much to enhance the plot other than to discuss generational trauma. overall, i was disappointed by this book and did not enjoy it.
