es laikam nebiju gaidījusi, ka šī grāmata būs TIK laba, bet tā ir. man patika, ka šī grāmata bija tik īsta, tik reāla, dialogi šķita tik patiesi un atbilstoši katra varoņa vecumam, problēmas tik pazīstamas, un varoņi šķita dzīvi, reāli, ka, šķiet, skaties filmu. ak, sem un čārlij, i will miss y'all. man nav daudz ko teikt par šo grāmatu, bet tas nenozīmē, ka es nejutu visas iespējamās emocijas to lasot un man tā nepatika. nevaru sagaidīt filmu!

This reminded me of a grown up version of The Summer I Turned Pretty, but make it Canadian. The only thing I didn't love about the book was the conflict. I was so annoyed with the main characters for not communicating!

This felt a little childish and immature but most of the book does center around a romance between teenagers so that’s not surprising. May be a good fit for someone but I had a hard time rooting for this couple

I can’t. I really can’t. They’re both idiots. I was rooting for Charlie, which says a lot. At least Chantel and Delilah were real ones.

I picked this one up in preparation for all of the great reviews of One Golden Summer. It was my first Carley Fortune novel and unfortunately I think it just wasn’t for me. There were elements that I liked- the setting at the lake- gorgeous, some of the characters- memorable. I didn’t love the dual timeline which jumped from present day to back when our main characters first met as children. And I just could not get into the past timeline where the main characters were 13-years old. I wasn’t interested in 13-year old awkward love story or the drama with their friends. It was boring and I think I’m just not the intended audience. That said, I liked the present timeline much better. I also hated the big secret at the end. Why did the story go this way?! I’m probably still willing to give One Golden Summer a try as long as it doesn’t follow the same dual timeline / teenage storyline. I feel i’m in the minority with this review as this book is loved by so many of my reading friends.

This book. Ugh. I love the setting. I love the way their friendship starts and how it buds into more. The characters were great, flawed realistically. Though I found Percy to be annoying at times. The twist of what happened to pull them apart I actually called easily before it happened.
Cheating with his brother
is what pulls the rating down for me.
