While I liked the content of the book, the pacing felt a little bit off, and the ending really threw me for a loop. While I understand it’s supposed to be an unreliable narrator thing going on, I felt it could be needlessly confusing at times.

I love an unreliable narrator. I enjoy how the story reveals information to the reader. Definitely wouldn’t say I was scared but i enjoyed the read. Hard to read in ebook form as the pieces of script don’t format right.
I am totally thrown off by the ending, but looking back at the last third of the book, it makes sense that it ended in such a bizarre way with the unreliable narrator aspect really beginning to amp up. It was being hinted at throughout the book, now that I think about it, but I guess I didn't fully catch what was being thrown at me. I'm half tempted to pick it back up and read it again now that I'm through, see what I possibly didn't catch.
I really liked this book! I understand that most people rolled their eyes at the pretentious characters and Cleo's pretentious script (especially the commentary happening during Karson's dining room scene), but I found Valentina/Cleo/Thin Kid to be relatable. As an insufferable snobby hipster asshole once upon a time, I felt like I found my people in how they talked to each other in the beginning of the book. Thin Kid and Valentina attempting to piss eavesdroppers off by calling the Pixies sellouts? MY PEOPLE. The portion about Elastica's Connection is something also I caught initially (and I actually second guessed myself until the new director said something, to which I thought, "I'm not crazy!"). And a character wearing a Fire Walk With Me shirt! Yes! I loved all of the little references scattered around the book, they got me.
I don't know if the movie would work in real life, but boy, was I glued to reading the screenplay. I'm about to have six tabs open with various takes on this book to read in the morning.
