This book includes some lovely elements, but they never quite coalesce into a story. The plot is tissue-paper thin, and the character development non-existent. "It was all just a misunderstanding" is not a story-worthy problem.

The writing quality is good, but too much time is spent on mundane details rather than on the characters facing obstacles and overcoming them. The only "obstacle" in the book is cleared up by a five-minute conversation at the end. Flora and Mac's relationship never really develops beyond the "I really like you" stage, yet at the end they're declaring their undying love for each other. They haven't done anything to earn that supposed love, so as a reader, I have no faith that it will last.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received.

Happily ever after ending? Check.

Sweet romance? Check.

Couple who respects each other? Check.

Minimal drama? Check.

No uncomfortably detailed sex/physical attraction scenes? Check.

The Garden of Little Rose is such a sweet story. It’s about a woman who is scared to trust again after experiencing a shock in her family years ago, and how she works through it in order to move forward.

If you want a feel-good book where everything works out, this is your jam. The only parts I wasn’t wild about were the drama at the end (I know, I know, there always needs to be a little drama), but this scenario just confused me. It seemed like it was just there for the sake of drama, and didn’t advance the story forward, in my humble opinion.

More friendships: The main character had a very strong friendship with two women, and in the beginning, it seemed like they would play a big role in the book. Then they kind of disappeared for a while and we didn’t hear them mentioned again until the end of the book.

Also, more gardening! I would have loved to read more about the gardening restoration work the main character does.

Loved:

* Happily ever after ending
* Clean romance
* Small town/community vibes

Thank you, Netgalley and Canelo, for the opportunity to read this ebook advanced reader copy. These are my honest thoughts.
