A History of Violence by Mallory Fox is a dark reverse harem serial killer bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Hannah Hedley and Lucas Webley. This is the first book in A Violent Agenda series.
This is the first book of Mallory's that I have read, and it definitely won't be my last. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I love the chemistry between Viola, Lorcan, Dino, and Jude. I really enjoyed getting Viola, Dino, Lorcan, Jude, Arora, and Dante's points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ends on a cliffhanger but that wasn't a surprise since it's the first book in the series. I can't wait for the next book in the series A Legacy of Sorrow to be released on audio so I can get more of Viola and her men.
I originally read the book and was so excited when I saw it was coming to audio. Hannah and Lucas did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend the series if you like dark romances, reverse harem romances, serial killer romances, assassin romances, or bully romances.

Please look up trigger warnings for this book. *minor spoilers* I was so excited to read this book because I loved other books such as Haunting Adeline and The MindF Series. The narration in this book was great and it was also a duet which is my favorite. The narrators did a wonderful job of portraying the characters. The main character Viola is an assassin and is sent on an undercover mission to take out the child of a criminal family. My issues with this book is with the ages of the characters. In the first chapter of the book, Viola kills a man for touching a 15 y/o and then proceeds to have sex with a 17 y/o… There’s a lot of emphasis on different “pedos” of the story but Viola proceeds to commit the same acts… WEIRD. Even if the author made this situation seem consensual, it still made me uncomfortable. If the author simply aged up the characters and had this take place in a college rather than a high school, I probably would have enjoyed this book much more. Furthermore the poly relationship fell flat for me. It appeared that Viola had actual feelings for only Lorcan and the others are just kind of there? *Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.lady_h_reads's review against another edition

📚 Book Review 📚
Give me all the BA, unhinged FMCs out for blood! They are my favorite types. Throw in a couple morally grey MMCs, and I am in heaven.
I loved this dark contemporary romance. There is nothing soft to be found, just hard edges, secrets and lies, and a stabby FMC.
This book is medium burn, but when the spice hits, it’s kinky AF.
While not a true cliffhanger ending, it still makes you crave the rest of the story. As a completed series, you can binge-read it today.

There are so many POVs. And so much going on. We're following Viola, we're following these boys. Viola was hired to do a job but suddenly the job isn't what she thought. Things have gone a little sideways.

Serial killers? Why choose? Sign me up!
I will start with saying that while this states it’s a bully romance, I really do not agree with that statement. BUT it is dark and captivating. The FMC is pretty badass and not to be fucked with. Plot wise, there is so much going on behind the scenes that I kept trying to figure out who I could trust. The answer is looking like no one and I want more.

Viola is a female Dexter and I'm obsessed! I absolutely loved everything about this book!
It hooks you right from the first page and makes you want more. Viola is a hired hitman that has a change of heart when she goes undercover as a high-school student and faces her latest target. I love how you slowly see the thick layers of her rough exterior peal away when she meets her match in not 1 guy but 3, one of which is her target kill.
The chemistry and character dymanics is just perfect. The different perspectives were done so well and broken up into chapters that you're able to follow along easily. I love the flashbacks using Aurora's diary, once Viola discovers it. They really give you a look into her mindset and how all the characters got to this point in the present story.
There is some spicey scenes that I thought were well done. Can't lie I wish there had been a little more but I think there was just enough to start the foundation into the relationships between Viola and the 3 guys.
I was sent this book in exchange for a review and honestly I cannot wait to continue this series. Make sure to check TW cause this is most definitely violent and dark.
