let me start this off by saying that i saw a lot of people that said the twist in this was predictable, but at no point did i ever predict it would be THAT... moving on, i was so underwhelmed by the time i finished this. there were parts of this i absolutely struggled to get through, parts i felt added nothing to the plot, or enhanced my reading experience. there were parts i did enjoy, but they were far and few. the characters were flawed and damaged, and it was interesting to see their dynamic shift and change over the course of the story, both for better and for worse. however, this is like the only positive thing i can say about my reading experience for this book... there were just so many moments in this book that i feel were not needed and i found the main characters to be borderline unlikable for most of the story. this was not a bad book by any means, but it was definitely not as enjoyable for me as i hoped. the ending saved it from being less than 2 stars for me to be honest. but if you like small town murder mysteries, extremely flawed characters, and complicated family dynamics maybe this is the perfect book for you!

What a crazy family dynamic in this one. Was it predictable? Yes. But I still enjoyed the writing style. Simple and easy to follow. Can’t wait to read more from this author!
