My favorite thing about this book was the characterizations. Both MCs had such richness and depth and the way they related to each other and to the supporting characters felt very real. I also liked that they were older than your usual romance and approached life from that perspective. The first part of the book while their relationship was entirely online was particularly charming. The ending did start to feel a bit convoluted and then a rush to wrap everything up so the story could end, which I found a bit frustrating, but overall very enjoyable.

This was such a charming read - I just adored Maggie & Aiden!  Their meet cute had me in stitches, with her joining his gaming guild online & thinking he was a similar age to her college age son, and him thinking she was a similar age to his senior citizen mother.  The banter between the two of them was fantastic and I loved seeing their friendship grow & feelings develop between them.

There’s also some serious stuff in the story, and I thought this was handled really well.  I loved the honest & open conversations Maggie & Aiden had about their lives - they’re over 40 & pasts, and we touch on toxic families, past relationships, and figuring yourself out at a later stage in life.

This had such a delicious slow burn to it.  There’s some spice, but the build up to that was great, so when they finally got together, it was well worth the wait.  These two introverts were fantastic & I need to read more by Cathy Yardley soon!

Awesome writing

I absolutely love that the main characters were older. And with (only slightly) pudgy bodies full of relatable anxieties. I just made me happy to read how their relationship evolved. They felt real
I didn't need the sex scene. I know ppl argue that it was important to the plot but, no, not realy.

A very cute romance of an older couple bonding over introverted natures and video games. <3
