"Alberto's Lost Birthday" was such a sweet read. If it weren't for the fact that I read another book by the author, "Pippo and Clara" which I absolutely loved, I'd totally give this book a solid 4-star rating.
The story was simple. Starting with an old man trying to figure out his "lost birthday," his journey went back in time during the Spanish civil war. The descriptions of the country and the war time Spain were well written. The story was amazingly sweet, yet bitter. An enjoyable read but just a little plain. Regardless, Ms. Diana Rosie is such a gifted storyteller with the innocent voice that I adore. There are always hope and positivity in her story. I do recommend this book. 3.5 stars.

I received a free copy through Netgalley, in return for an honest review.
Sometimes you pick up a book that seems nice enough, Nd which turn out to be just wonderful. This is one of those books!
Combining the search of Alberto and his grandson Tino for Alberto's birthday with flashbacks to the past, it gradually shows the reader what happened to Alberto. This is a story full of compassion and great characters, a story telling about a horrible period in Spanish history, but still full of warmth and love.
I really enjoyed reading this book.

This book is really lovely, the story starts in a simple way and then you can't stop reading it. It was a great surprise, for the first book from this author. I really hope to see more books written by her.
If you looking for a book that can take you in an incredible story without leaving your sofa and your fireplace, this is the one.
