the main character drove me a little crazy and to me, read far more like a 23 year old than a 34 year old, but that's fine because honestly, this book did help me get out of a reading slump since it is intensely readable. super easy to get sucked in and just keep going. it's really more of a 2 - 2.5 but i gave it 3 simply because my intrigue and entertainment were pretty high. though had the author really GONE THERE with the ending i probably would've giving it a solid 3 stars, but i found the ending boring (though the epilogue was more interesting).

The main character drove me crazy, I didn’t like her. The book was 75% smut which I was expecting more non-sex thriller so I didn’t love that

Didn’t love reading a pandemic-set book in 2024 but it definitely kept me hooked.

Absolutely gorgeous cover and perfect for suspending all reality and indulging at the pool while day drinking. Ignore the plot holes and just pour another drink!

3.5 stars.

This story was propulsive and addictive. But my enjoyment of the storytelling was all over the place. The first 60% or so was contemporary/romance-bordering-on-erotica/suspense while the remainder was more mystery/thriller. Our main character Kelly is very insecure and tries to portray a go with the flow type attitude despite her high anxiety level and frequent paranoia. She was a conundrum.

I liked the content warning in the beginning that simply clarified that the cat is unharmed in the book.

CWs: infidelity, BDSM, profanity
dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

Kept you guessing what was happening, got a bit slow in some places though. Overall a good read.

The best part of the book was knowing that the cat, Virgo, was always ok. This story didn’t really go anywhere until the very last second. And by that point I didn’t care. I never understood any of the characters and the plot just seemed all over the place.
