Thank you to the publishers for an advanced copy for an honest review.

Kelly and her man need a break. But there’s a lockdown. So she befriends someone on Instagram. I think they went to school together as kids. Dunno. But it’s weird.

Most of the book annoyed me, made me roll my eyes, and cringe. It was much too long and the spicy scenes took up too much room. Kelly was obnoxious. The twist toward the end really helped the book. It’s what bumped it up a star. But it just took so long to get there.

If wasn’t a bad book at all. I just don’t think this author is one that works for me.

Was nervous to give this one a try based on the rating but I really enjoyed We Were Never Here so I wanted to give it a shot. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would- some of the writing was a bit cheesy and was heavy-handed with the similes. Also the main character definitely made infuriating decisions at times. But this wasn’t predictable to me, and had the amount of twists you would expect from a thriller. Actually kind of surprised the rating isn’t higher.

So. I don't know if it was my pandemic trauma making this not work for me or the build up being too long but this one didn't work for me like her other ones. I will say it's possibly bc I read quite a lot of romance, so I didn't think there was anything that scandalous or racy in here. The romance aspect was fun but the mystery ex should've been involved wayyyy more, it was odd they seemed to be almost an add on? Could've been a solid double twist situation.
I'll keep reading her books though.

I should have bailed, but I didn't. At least the ending was unexpected.

This book seemed to be trying too hard to have twists and to be risqué.  While the throuple relationship was a thing the book itself wasn’t overly sexual (ie not soft core even though it seemed like it was going to be).  I found the main character to be annoying. Another book set during Covid times that wanted to be more than it was. This is one that if I had read the preview I probably would have passed on.
