I really enjoyed reading this book. It reminded me of the first three TOG books all in one, but to be honest, I may like Keera a little more? Her addiction was hard to read but there were also parts that I appreciated too. Looking forward to reading more.

This book is nothing but tropes and it wasn't even done well. The writing is okay. Nothing to write home about. The characters were all stereotypes. You got the female assassin, the broody love interest, the comic relief, and the "badass" friend. It was all irritating to read. We kept getting told that Keera, the main character, is the most skillful and intelligent assassin in the kingdom, but you wouldn't know it with how many times other characters got the jump on her. The romance was awful. They already kissed the first time they meet! There was no buildup. They just professed their love for one another by the halfway mark of the book. All do it moved too fast! Also, the book was way too long. It should have been at least 100 pages shorter yet it just kept going for needless drama and "romance." The only part I did enjoy was getting to know more about the world and its politics. I wish this book focused more on that instead of trying to convince us that these two characters definitely love each other... even though they just met. Also, that "plot twist" at the end of the book was not cleverly done. I knew that was going to happen from the first 50 pages... anyway, it was an easy read. Just dragged a lot.

A 3.5, but I definitely think the series will get better as it goes on!
