New antagonists are in our midst! In this volume, Guts escapes from being imprisoned by Farnese and the Holy Iron Chain Knights but is met with demonic resistance and is still haunted by demons and past trauma.

What I Liked:

- Characters: Matching the overarching themes of this section of the series, this volume heavily focuses on the Holy See and sets them up to be an antagonist for Guts. Farnese, for instance, is shown how conflicted she is with the nature of her duty and her desires; and it is shown via the demons hunting Guts. The Orders themselves are very interesting to see as they come off as mere servants to God, but how they seek out and "deal" with heretics is in the most brutal way possible. Guts does a lot of self-reflecting in the latter chapters that really puts into perspective his actions and how he now feels about what he has done, thanks to Godo. And we finally get to see Casca!
- Writing/Pacing: Taking a step back away from Guts and the other main characters to see the kingdom's condition was a very refreshing and much-needed choice. Not only is nothing the same with Guts, but the effects of what happened ever since the Eclipse is felt nationwide it seems. The way it's all written makes this feel so gloomy and musty given the appearance of a plague. The pacing is as great as ever and the way different characters and the narration are written makes it weigh everyone's despair.
- Story/Premise: I love how the story is shifting to a religious antagonist and how it's all being set up for them to fully encounter Guts since he is their main target. The added notion that Casca has run away and ended in the grasp of the Holy See makes everything much more tense for what's to come.
- Art/Coloring/Paneling: As stated in previous reviews, the artwork seems to be progressively better and better with the character designs and the violent fight scenes.

What I Didn't Like:

Overall, I've said this so many times so I think this will be the last time I have an ending sentence since I just end up repeating how good this series is and how much I recommend it; but yeah, it's fantastic and I highly recommend it.

While this continues to be a difficult series to get through at times (I've been finding myself binging through a few volumes each year and then set it down to come back to next year), the world building and character development (along with the amazing art) continues to progress with every volume.

It's A Lot in terms of content/trigger warnings - to say "it's dark" doesn't even begin to scratch the surface - but if you can weather them, it's easy to see why this is such a highly praised series.

This was by far the most story packed volume.
There was no Big fights at all, And even the small fights weren't many.
This was just about story, and building up the mystery for the next arc.
It seems that the inquisitor is actually another apostle, Not sure about his team of torturers though.
I have my doubts if Casca will survive the next volume, since Guts is supposed to stay with her, if she survives, and this would put everything on halt.
The hawk of light is definitely Griffith, i am not really sure what his plan might be, to come and reclaim Charlotte along with her kingdom, would be rather insignificant since he is a god now, and would mean that this manga should end very early, which will not happen because he would be stationed in one place, and Guts will have to storm it a few times to get him.
Oh man there is so many ways this could go through now, i am done trying to speculate what's next! i will try to read next volume, at the nearest opportunity.

It feels like there’s a lot of set up in this volume. But that’s not to say it’s not enjoyable.
Some interesting things to come. I see my favourite villain is on his way back. Some new ones get some depth to them, and Guts seems to go through a bit of a mentality change.

I fell off the series a little at the end of the last arc, but this volume has really brought me back into it.
