“I love you, Lois Lane. Until the end of time.” Don't touch me I'm soft.

My first read of the year, and what a wholesome way to start! I don't know much about Superman, so I'm sure a bunch of references went over my head, but I was really emotional regardless.

If you're looking for a "definitive and final" Superman comic, you probably can't do better than this. It includes modern takes on several staple Superman stories (like the Superman and Lois or Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen). The art demands your attention and the writing does a very good job of conveying why Superman is a character matters in the world. The only thing holding my rating back is just that I think I emotionally connect more to younger Superman stories. This is probably something I'm going to need to revisit when I am older.

I will admit that as far as superheroes go, Superman is not one of my favourites. I usually find it only very mildly entertaining to read about him, but I really didn't expect to be this disappointed reading this book. Based on the reviews and the kudos handed to it, I expected myself to at least enjoy it a fair bit but for the most part it just bored me. There were a couple of good bits but that whole chapter that was
Spoilerpretty much dedicated to Lois being reduced to an object over which three men lusted over was just too much to bear for my tastes
. Maybe I'm just not the target audience for Superman and I better just give up.
