In a world where humans are sharply divided into two classes: people and livestock, there is one man brave enough to be briefly kind of uncomfortable with the situation.

And here I thought Marcos was a decent guy but then we find out he's actually a little shit in the end. I hate you.

I wish I could wipe this from my mind. But the way it criticized how people were just willing to eat others and became desensitized to it overtime is similar to how we're fine with eating animals. I think that the book taking place mostly in a slaughterhouse gave those of us that eat meat a different perspective that we tend to not want to talk about. It really could make carnivores uncomfortable since most of us love animals but probably could never butcher one ourselves. I feel like we can be very gullible to the government and their brainwashing even if they throw out the craziest things so eating humans could be a possibility but there would definitely be a lot of backlash.

I physically couldn't eat meat while reading this, it just made me too uncomfortable. I kept thinking I was eating special meat. I can't even eat it now that I'm done with it and idk what to do. I feel like this is a great rec for someone trying to be vegan lol. The uncomfortable situation it puts people in really makes them aware of what they're eating and what that animal had to go through to end up on their plate.

The writing was kind of weird. I don't know if that's how the author originally wrote it or the translator did that but the writing felt very direct and repetitive at time such as "He did this...He did that..." Sometimes those sentences would come one after the other and it felt like the book thought I was a child that needed to be told everything in a straightforward manner. Also it just messed with me. I wish I hadn't read it. Some of the writing was nice like when Marcos would talk about the past with his father and dogs. I do feel like Marcos was a very bland 2-dimensional character through basically the whole book up until the last page. That ending shocked me to my core. He was different in a good way from everyone like having actual emotions but then he went 360.

Obviously I'm very mad. My reading year has been going so well this year. I haven't given anything below a 4 stars but then ms. tender is the flesh has to ruin that streak. Go burn in hell.

When Sergio, the guy that stuns the product before they're slaughtered, says that all new stunners have to find their own way of calming down the product like how he whispers in their ear, and then this whole time Marcos is basically building trust with Jasmine and being sweet like whistling "Summertime" in her ear but that's actually his way of calming her down and then we find out at the end before he stuns her and slaughters her? I was so mad

Trying to delve into more horror and this book was incredible for me. It was everything I wanted in a horror. LOTS of TW so be sure to check those out. I felt the characters we're developed just enough, like we still don't know everything about them and I love that mystery. It was truly shocking, nauseating, and the idea was really...fleshed out.
