An interesting look inside the machinations of The Met, it’s artworks and behind the scenes. It also made me appreciate the gallery guards even more than I already did…many of them are on their feet for 8-12 hour shifts.

It’s hard to say what this book means to me. I have marked up and flagged parts to reference back to. My own relationship with The Met is so physical, personal. This was beautiful. And it made me realize how much I haven’t seen in one of my favorite places in the world.
This is not an easy read. It is dense. It is specific and detailed. But it is written with honesty and curiosity and admiration. Bringley’s words are an inspiration to me. I will be sharing this book with everyone I love as well.
