A gentle memoir about working at the Met. I liked the author's observations about his fellow guards, visitors, and art.

I wasn’t sure I would even start this one and I ended up finishing it in 2 days. The author’s brother dies and the author feels like he doesn’t want to do anything (relatable) so he leaves a cool job at the New Yorker to be a museum guard at the Met. Over the ten years he was there, he sorts through his grief amongst some of the worlds most famous art from over thousands of years. It’s as beautiful as you’re imagining.
