(You can also read a copy of my review here: https://beautifulilies.wordpress.com/2017/11/20/mirror-mirror-by-cara-delevingne-and-rowan-coleman/.

A copy of this novel was given in exchange for an honest review.

I’m going to preface this review by reminding the reader that everything in this review is strictly my opinion, and that there might be things I mention that you yourself might not mind in a book. But for me, Mirror, Mirror was a bit of a mess.

First of all, I’m not sure if the person who wrote the blurb read a completely different story to the rest of us, but it’s not remotely how the book actually panned out. Secondly, the book isn’t an easy one to read. I understand it’s YA, but that doesn’t mean it has to look like it was written by a YA. I would normally make allowances given this is a debut novel, but even a debut novel should have a better writing style.

I wasn’t really sure about the first half of the novel. It didn’t feel like it was going anywhere, but this novel is supposed to be about more than Naima – it’s about all of them and their journey navigating their way through life. As for Naima’s story, I have to say the ending was predictable, but in an era of trying too hard, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

All in all, Mirror, Mirror is a solid debut novel, and I feel it sets out to do what it intends to. I do hope that Delevingne works on her writing skills before her next novel though.

Let me honest before I start this review - I was very hesitant to get this book and read it. WHY? Because I love Cara as an actor and I didn't want to end up hating this book. So I decided to not buy this book but to loan it from the library as an audio. I LOVED THE AUDIO GUYS!

Now ignore the cover (even though I low-key like it) but read what's inside because that's what is important right? I loved every character within this book and I'm so freaking happy that I wasn't disappointed at all. So a big shout out to Cara Delevingne for writing an amazing book! I hope she writes another one whenever she finds the time to spare.

If you thought I was going to ruin my streak of not putting in spoilers, well you are completely wrong! I wont spoil anything but I will mention that this book is about a school band - where a bandmate goes missing. Naomi has a history of running away but when she is found floating in the river do her bandmates start to wonder what the hell she was doing or what exactly happened to her.

Trust me, it's such a good mystery book. I honestly thought it was going to be a retelling of like snow what or something because the title is Mirror Mirror but I was 100% wrong on that and not a bit disappointed. I loved this book. I loved the characters. I really want another book now.

Queer teen mystery dream.
Scary real themes, but on edge.
Lots of relationship drama.

This was an alright book for me but I feel as if I wasn't really in the mood for it when I picked it up, but I wanted to read it before the release date. The idea of the story and how the characters connect was interesting but the overall writing and execution of the story didn't wow me. If you liked We Were Liars or One of Us is Lying then you might like this, although it's not as good as either of them. Also, the name of the book made me think fantasy, which annoyed me a little bit, but that's not really important. Overall, it as a good book but I wouldn't say more than that.

This novel is about the struggles of transitioning into adulthood. It is about finding one’s identity and overcoming adversity.
Rose is invincible on the outside but super vulnerable underneath.
Leo is put under pressure because of his circumstances and what people expect of him.
Red is figuring out self-identity and sexuality.
This novel is FULL of twists and turns. I was addicted. I couldn’t wait to finish work so I could come home and read it. And in my opinion, that makes for an amazing book.

Really enjoyed the story, but the characters were by far my favorite.
I like the twist the book took at the end, I could barely put the book down because I was so invested in the mystery and the process the gang goes through to unravel it.
