I just really hate both of these characters. Well, I have pity for both of them. I’m one of those folks who likes watching the movie then reading the book after. In my opinion, it’s better to get two surprises rather than one surprise and a tragic disappointment. I really enjoyed Amy with Rosamund Pike’s performance; however, the book inspired seething hate for the character. I’m 100% certain that is intentional. I found that spending days with both characters as opposed to a couple of hours allowed me access into their psyche that left the most sour aftertaste (in thee best way possible; I loved hating them and reading more to enlist more hatred). Amy is tragic and egoistic and violent and wields public opinion in the most insidious way. Nick is… a man. I equally loved and hated this book.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant book - that I absolutely hated. I hated the main characters so much I wanted to put them both out of their misery. An absolute 5 stars. Completely flabbergasted by this. (I must add, this is NOT my typical type of book to read. So to completely win me over like this? You know it has to be good. Just trust me.)

what… the fuck
