Diana Wynne Jones is delightful as usual. I find myself hard-pressed to pick which story was my favorite, because each time I read one that I thought would be, the next one was even better. Definitely a recommended book for anyone who enjoys stories about magic, especially magic in otherwise mundane settings.
I’d read most of the stories in this collection several times, so I really focused on the last piece, the novella-length “Everard’s Ride” which I really loved.
While I like Diana Wynne Jones, I've never been a big fan of short stories, so it's commendable that I enjoyed this one as much as I did. I especially enjoyed Dragon Reserve, Home Eight, and would love to read it as a continuing series. However, my overall favorite was Little Dot. The rest were light and readable, but short stories are still just not my thing.
