DID NOT FINISH: 57%

Just big yikes at the racism and classism and the stuff with the disabled kid. I know this is a classic but I couldn’t even finish it to find out what made it so beloved so people who read it when they were younger.

One of the best children's books I've read. Brilliantly done.

3.5 stars. with classics you have to expect a dose of racism even in children's books but they really weren't being subtle about it omg. sometimes you feel that the message of the book isnt "children are supposed to run around and be whimsical" or "nature heals" but "india bad england good

My first audiobook! Listened to most of this on a 6 hour ferry and it was exactly what I needed. The chapter from the robins perspective: cute!! Film rewatch needed
