Cute novella but it could have been 10-20 pages longer. I loved how the relationship progressed but the ending was rushed compared to the rest of the novella.

This story takes place during a few years. Which is great since it is a novella, and then the lovestory works well.

Eliza wants to be out, but her 3 sisters needs to marry before her. So she waits, and waits. She meets a man, a no good scoundrel, a rake, someone who always shows up when she least wants it.

They circle around each other for years. Her sisters marry, she is getting closer. And she was fun, and it was amusing to read about. And yes I did not like Harry at first, because he was such a rake! But as the years go by, maybe he is not really such a rake. Maybe he is a sweetie.

I liked it. Aww novellas in audio are fun!

A great narrator with distinct fun voices. She made these fun

Very sweet. The idea of using the letters and invitations to jump through time allows Dare to move through the novella without all the extra characters/characterization. Excellent closing chapter.

Eliza meets the scandalous Harry while spying on a ball one night when she is 18 and then continues to run into over the next few years. Harry is fascinated by the young lady spying on the ball but deems her to young at the time to interest him, but his feelings evolve as she ages.
This was very sweet and even made me misty eyed at one point, I'm sorry I waited so long to read this novella.

Were these likeable characters? No. But how Dare writes character dialogue is just so good and addicting.
Trigger Warnings: Napoleonic Wars mentioned, war themes, and loss of a loved one

Classic Tessa Dare–wit, banter, spice. Simply cannot go wrong.

i love tessa dare but this was really disappointing, i found both of the main characters unlikeable and i was never sold on them being in love. other reviews also mention it being funny but i did not find it funny either.

A really fun novella! Had me laughing quite a lot but wasn’t keen on a remark about clef lips at the beginning so that’s knocked my rating down
