Freya was kind of an annoying character sometimes with her petulant attitude all the time whilst simultaneously ignoring every opportunity she had to have her own freedom, but I feel like the story did a good job of explaining exactly why Freya is like that. In the next book(s) I'm sure we'll get to see her come to terms with herself and finally figure out how to carve her own destiny. I love how each character has their own flaws and deep characterization. A lot of love went into this story and the characters in it. They're all very believable and interesting to read. I need the sequel already.

If you liked the video games Skyrim or God of War, you may like this world based in Norse mythology!

My review:
I loved the setup of the book so much and was ready to give it at-least a 4.5 or better. However, I felt like the plot started to diverge into a different style. I think I know what the author was going for regarding the development of Freya (the main female character) but it started to feel weird and rushed. I think this honestly just comes down to preference so if I meet someone who loves reading and those aforementioned video games, I will still recommend the book. The ending was shocking, I will still probably read the second book especially to see how Freya evolves.

I absolutely loved this book! It was such a wild ride from the very beginning of the book all the way to the end. I found myself enthralled and hooked by the world inside of the pages. Learning about all of the gods, their powers, and how children of the gods were affected was so intriguing!

This was my first ever Nordic Mythology book. I have to say the subject manner never really interested me, but I wanted to pick one up and give it a shot. I am sO glad that I did! It was so interesting, had me hooked, and I was so invested in the characters and all of the mythological lore present in the story.

Freya was such a badass FMC, I was living for it. I loved seeing her grow as a character, learn her worth, and ultimately make the best decisions for herself.
I was so happy when she finally decided to put her family in their place and make decisions based on her own wants and desires.

Freya and Bjorn — Freyorn was so hot and iconic, I was obsessed! I was rooting for them the entire time. At first when I read the synopsis of this book, I was like…the son? But when I actually read it, I was like, “YES, THE SON!” Hahah — the tension between them was perfection and had me practically screaming for them to get together already. The spicy scenes were written SO well and they were seriously so hot. 10/10 Bjorn…just saying.

The ending of this book. I will not go into extreme detail but all I will say is that I cannot wait for the next book! Danielle L. Jensen actually wrote this cliffhanger in a way that left me wanting to know what was going to happen next, but it did not make me upset. I was happy with the way it ended and how it left the story open to what would happen next. I seriously am so excited to keep reading Freya and Bjorn’s story!

Overall, I had such a good time reading this book and I am so happy that I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and read my first Viking romance. I am now obsessed with the genre and I cannot wait to read the next installment in this series. I rate this book 5/5 stars! 🌟
