3.5. I found the main character to be a little annoying. I was curious to see where the story would go, but her continual self-pity got repetitive. I hope she becomes a more interesting and confident character in the next book.

I can barely contain my distaste for the other characters! Ahhhh, it was really good. I love the folklore and magic and gods. I saw the ending coming but still it was really well done. The characters invoke strong feelings and as a reader that really draws you in. I would have loved a map though. It was hard to envision where they all were going. And a glossary would have been super helpful since the gods and words aren't as common as Greek mythology. I can't wait to pick up book 2.

I thought it was fine for most of it. Didn’t like it but didn’t NOT like it either. The very sexist/paternalistic ‘men own their woman’ shit was annoying. But once they introduced

her having extreme all consuming anger that made her think even less straight than before

The FMC is insufferable - but I did enjoy the twists and turns and the ending will force me to most likely read the second book to see how this ends. (3.50, rounding up to 4)
