What Angels Fear

Regency era detective with a hint of Lymond. Lots of setting up of characters - I look forward to the next one

Romance, bloody murder, and period dramas-- my 3 favorite genres in one page-turning package. Docked a star for too gruesome violence against women.

On a second read, I think I'm going to give it 4 stars. This is definitely one of those series that get better with time, as more characters and backstory are introduced.

If I was tad younger, I'd have loved this book; I would have loved dashing, troubled Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin. But now, I'm just - he's too fucking emo for his age? You'd have thought he was a teenager. That pining sort of love he had for Kat Boleyn (that name? really?) was annoying, like it took me out of the book so much I considered not finishing it.

PROS:
- Earl of Hendon + Viscount Devlin interaction
- TOM
- Hero (when that thing happens I stopped to look her up and I KNEW IT I COULD FEEL IT)
- Catholic bashing

CONS:
- Devlin was annoying
- Family drama
- "The apple does not fall far from the tree" ok WHAT
