For the first book in the series, I feel like I only understood about 20% of Shadowscape & 10% of how the Shadowdwellers Realscape culture operates. This was a hugely missed opportunity for world building, especially with how intriguing many of the characters were like Ashla, Malaya, Guin, and Gideon. If I better understood the setting, I’d be far more eager to pick up the next book in the series, and certainly would’ve boosted my rating to a 4/4.5. As it is, I won’t be chasing down the next book, even with the mystery of the rebelling faction still broadly unsolved.

This book was great it kept me hooked I couldn't stop reading it. The only bad thing is the author on small occasions seemed to drag out the moment. I will definitely read the next book in the series.

This first book delving into the Shadowdweller realm was absolutely amazing! I have fallen in love with all of the Nightwalker books but this new series is hands down the best yet!
Trace and Ashla's love and the world they create together is magical and leaves you breathless. Not to mention the entire chapter devoted to one sex scene! Yes that's right a whole chapter!!! Jacquelyn Frank has outdone herself.

pretty good. it's just like the Demon from the NightWalker series, the one that comes before this one. Gideon even makes an apperance in the ending of the book. The shadowdweller are more sexual, so there are a lot of sex scene, which is just what i am looking for after reading a YA book. Very good, and i wait wait to read the next book in the series.

Exactly what I want from a Jacquelyn Frank book.

I enjoyed learning about the Shadowdweller politics and culture. The romance was just ok. Because of ghe circumstances of the romance's origins (not based in reality) I found it lacked depth. I really like the Chancellors and their relationships with their bodyguards and servants. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

This book seemed really slow at the beginning but I guess that is always the way when building a fantasy world. I liked Trace and Ashla and was glad they ended up together. There are lots of questions yet to be answered but I guess that is why there are more books in the series.

I think it would have helped to read the Nightwalkers series first because I felt a bit lost at the beginning. I enjoyed it the story once I caught on to the Shadowdwellers world.
