Just ok. It’s like mean girls meets riverdale meets cruel intentions meets a soap opera.
I liked this book, it's just that I have read better. While I did enjoy reading this and I thought they were cute, I wasn't obsessed with it. There were also quite a few things that I didn't agree with.
Daria leads Penn to do something awful, but it turns out that will have repercussions for years to come. The story starts when Penn needs a place to live, and Daria’s mom offers their house up without consulting her. The two have a lot of hate to overcome including the reason for his missing twin sister and going to highly school at football rivals; during his stay, he gets to see a different side of Daria, one who is often forgotten and does not have a voice. When another guest is invited to stay at Daria’s house she is pushed away even further, which is just one more outside force trying to keep them apart. Daria and Penn both need someone to put the other first. I love that Daria stood her ground and knew she needed to step away for everyone to heal.

Hach diese Zwei! Ich könnte euch jetzt erzählen, wie sich meine Gefühle im Laufe der Story verändert haben. Ich wusste zeitweise nicht, ob ich sie hassen, lieben oder Mitleid haben sollte. Aber ich möchte euch nichts vorweg nehmen. Ihr müsst diese Erfahrung selber machen 😉
Aber eins Verrate ich euch: die hotten Papas kommen auch vor, vor allem natürlich Jamie, über den ich so oft lachen musste. Ein Zitat von ihm? Gerne ““Keep your embrace PG-13,” Jaime coughs into his fist“ 😂🤣😂🤣
Die ganz Story war unterhaltsam, ein pageturner, überraschend, lustig, gemein, böse, traurig, übertrieben - es hatte einfach alles und vor allem LJ Shens Handschrift. „I breathe your name, hoping to fill my lungs with more than just air“
Also wenn ihr die Vicious Reihe mochtet, werdet ihr dieses Buch auch lieben.
Es ist gerade erst auf englisch erschienen, deshalb kann ich euch leider nicht sagen, ob @lyx_verlag es auch nach Deutschland bringt.

She has written a piece that is so beautiful, sad and anxious that I almost hit my nails off whilst crying and smiling like a loon.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but your heart will probably be broken several times over the course of Pretty Reckless.
It’s so easy to put yourself in Daria’s shoes, she’s basically every teenaged girl, ever. I pretty much identified all of my teenage years with hers, the anxiety, the envy, the sadness, even her relationship with Melody versus her relationship with Jamie especially matched much of my own, so reading this book was especially devastating, in the best way possible.
Pretty Reckless is so much more than a tothole book, it’s poetry for the wicked, a heart for the heartless.
Penn and Daria are, in my eyes, one of the best couples Leigh has ever written and I’m so excited for everyone to see that!

It was crazy to see the first story of the next generation show that these kids were going to have troubles despite seeing what their parents went through. It was also so very real. There's no fairy tale to these books and I love it. I was also glad to see that these seem to be taking place at the END of high school so it wasn't all so skeevy to read. I was hesitant seeing these were about high schoolers. Don't be put off, it's definitely worth the read!

This was a great start to a new series... the glimpses from the Hotholes made it even better. Being able to see them as adults and how they parent.
I love the similarities in temperament the children have to their parents. It’s a familiarity to the previous characters without feeling redundant.
My only ‘ugh’ moment was the way the secrets was handled. It was very reminiscent of the scene from “Mean girls” and too YA-ish. Other than that moment... I truly enjoyed this... much like I do when reading an LJ Shen novel.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
This is one of my FAVORITE audiobooks this year. The narrators NAILED it! The voice of Daria was young and fresh, oh so breathy and seductive and yet also managed to sound like an entitled little rich bitch. Penn's voice I found more mature, wiser than his teenage years because of his harsher life experiences living on the wrong side of the tracks. He was sex personified, cool and aloof at times.
Daria and the rest of the TOT-HOLES put the Gossip Girl cast to shame and my inner teen lit up will all the high school drama! (sorry for the old reference, I have no clue what's on TV today)
Daria and Penn have the ultimate enemies to lovers romance. The dialogue in this book is absolutely brilliant. You don't know smart and witty banter till you read this. Again maybe because it was the audio, but it was just exceptional. There is deception, betrayal and a whole lot of sexiness and angst that brings their whole deranged story together. Unbelievably by the end I fell in love with both messed up characters.
I'm so glad L.J. Shen went back to ASH to bring us the stories of this new generation. If you're looking for an entertaining read then look no further!
