I wish I had read this book sooner. It would've saved a lot of money and agonizing over curricula! A concise, helpful read. I would recommend this to the parent of any pre-school aged child, whether in preschool or not, and as a must have for anyone homeschooling or thinking about homeschooling. It will help with the management of expectations, be they a school's expectations or your own. Common sense seems to have been lost when it comes to early childhood education in this country. Ruth Beechick's books are valuable in evaluating exactly which expectations are reasonable and which are not for the early elementary years.

Lastly, if you are pulling a child from the public school system, even in later elementary or junior high, this would be a helpful book to help your child develop proper skills in writing and get out of the "creative" model pervasive in so many schools today. You do not need to pay for a full curriculum for narration, dictation, or writing. Using this methodology you will most likely develop a strong writer if you keep with it, that should easily be ready for a proper Rhetoric class by high school age.
