I try reading atlas six, also by this author, and similarly found myself excited about the premise but disappointed with the execution. Some parts of the book I really enjoyed the writing and others felt it dragged on unnecessarily.

Wow. This is a well written and fascinating piece of literature. This is the first book I’ve ever read by this author. I had no expectations going in. The author does an excellent job with character development. These were all very different characters, but well rounded, and felt real or true. There were some topics covered in this book that were a bit difficult for me, but they were so well handled. I just really appreciate the authors writing. This was five stars and I can’t give it any less.

I preface by saying I received an uncorrected ARC of this book from a Goodreads Giveaway. However, I probably would have bought a copy on my own.
Olivie Blake is one of my most read authors in the last few years. I enjoy her writing and the way she shows the world through story. As soon as I started this novel I thought, “yep, this feels right”.
If you like magical realism, this book is for you. If you like family drama, this book if for you. If you are a first born child, this book is for you. If you have ever felt like you don’t know what you’re doing in life, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.
To be honest, just give it a try. It’s worth it!

Absolutely hilarious writing. I loved it from start to finish. The plot twists kept me guessing what would happen next, but the author left enough foreshadowing that I could guess where it was going and I felt thrilled when I got it right
I normally like Olivie's writing but in this more character orientated meant that her meandering style was more jarring than poetic.
