Keep This to Yourself is a fun & quick YA mystery thriller that was pretty decent and enjoyable. Due to the shorter length of the book, most characters weren't super fleshed out and the romantic element in this book felt really off to me (and even toxic). It's a solid summer read with some fun twists but nothing too groundbreaking.

I really wanted to like this book, but sadly a mixture of disconnection with the reader, inconsistencies and what I can only describe as the book feeling more fit to be the script of a Netflix show rather than a book made it dissatisfying. The story starts strong and simple and I quite liked the beginning. Spotting the scooby doo references and typical tropes was fun and at first I felt compelled to think that anyone could be the culprit and to think about the possible scenarios. However, as soon as the introductions stops and the investigation really starts, everything falls flat. The writing begins to have weird angles and inconsistencies, sometimes being incredibly detailed or flowery and sometimes feeling like the kind of writing you'd find in a screenplay and not a book. The characters also become inconsistent, reaching conclusions that they, nor the reader, could've come up. As the ending approaches things seem to pick up again and the writing becomes more tolerable. A lot of my final opinion weighted on the big reveal and though you could see it coming it was satisfying, mostly due to not taking the direction I hoped it wouldn't take after everything was laid out. The main relationship also suffers from the same issues the story itself does. It starts strong, then it develops so quickly you're left wondering if you missed a few pages, then it becomes inconsistent with its writing and it ends satisfyingly.
While I had really high hopes for this story, it sadly missed several bench marks
