The book was pretty good until THE ENDING, I cried even without the context of the story when I saw it on a video

People are apparently very moved by this story. These same people must also be moved by a pencil sharpener. Or a block of cheddar, because this thing is pure cheese. Spiderman has quips, I understand that. But I was reeling with cringe at the neverending bombardment of crap dialogue.

For a love story, it's also incredible how little Gwen says throughout. Less love, more infatuated stares. The portrayal of women in this story fighting over 'nerdy' Peter Parker was basically a glorified, horny fan fiction. What the hell. I was about done at the bloody soup scene.

Then the villains...each fight lasted all of two seconds, all to further...what exactly? You could argue the comic wasn't about the villains which I'd agree - but then nothing happens other than Peter catching a cold and moving house!

Spiderman Blue, more like Spiderman...poo. 1.5 stars.

Bitter sweet and poignant. A delightful surprise; I wasn't expecting this emotional vulnerability from a superhero comic. I wish they would do one of these for Deadpool.

Tim Sale’s art is so good in this. Absolutely lovely. I didn’t think the story was incredibly good, though. I liked the idea that the whole thing is being narrated by Peter as he makes audio recordings to the dead Gwen Stacy. That’s cool. But the story itself wasn’t very creative. It wasn’t exciting or moving. It wasn’t bad, but there wasn’t anything special to make it stand out, other than the art.

Fantastic. A look back without being a retread, retro without being kitschy. Peter is recording a message to Gwen Stacy years after her death, talking about how she affected his life.
