Never Die Easy, Walter Payton's autobiography, is an ispiring tale about Walter Payton's endeavors on and off the field.  An NFL legend, Walter Payton set many all-time records on the field.  His real legacy was created by the many good deeds he did off the field and after his retirement.  While many acknowledge him as the greatest running back of all time, he is best known for his namesake in the Walter Payton man of the year, an award created to acknowlefge the good deeds players commit off the field.

This book details what made him into the man everyone loved, and how he affected people.  This includes many testamants by the people he met throughout his life.  While he wrote much of the book, his coauthor Don Yeagar finished it after his death.  While his early passing was devastating, it gave everyone a greater appreciation for the man he was and how much he cared about his work and his goals.  His book inspires readers to give everything in their life 100% and never die easy, meaning never give up without a fight.

Multiple speakers made it drag on a some points. Pre and post nfl chapters were the best. Inspiring but repetitive.

I read this book because my husband is a Bears fan. After reading it, I am too. At least a fan of the '85 Bears.
Walter Payton was a role model, one that most professional athletes need to emulate. A great athlete that was blessed with great character, and a phenomenal moral compass.
The world needs more Walter Payton's.

I really enjoyed reading about the life of Walter Payton. It did, however feel rushed. Sadly, this is due to the early passing of Payton. It is a good insight into Payton’s early years and his final days on earth.
