Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins - Rating: 5/5⭐️

A month ago the Capital fired back on the retaliation by obliterating District 12 after Katniss blew an arrow through the force field surrounding the arena of the 75th annual Hunger Games. The rebels rescuing her and Peeta being captured in the chaos. Just when there may be reprieve, Katniss is forced to be another price in another person’s games.

LIKES:
👍🏾 The best world building so far. Being in District 13 and processing a whole other system of governmental control, particularly around schedules and food portion control.
👍🏾 More emotional attachment. I teared up with “The Hanging Tree” through the actual lyrics and the explanation. But also each and every characters hardships growing up in their different districts, the effects of the hunger games, and the continued effects of the capital. This was really Katniss’ book to shine and Finnick’s to make me break down and cry. And again with Katniss’ final breakdown with the cat over Prim. I had to physically put the book down for a minute.
👍🏾 This book was more than a work of fiction. It had so much insight into war, propaganda, grief, trauma, and healing. I think really gets readers to question the justifications of war. And where we should draw the line between justice and vengeance. Highlighting knowing what we are actually fighting for.
👍🏾 The ultimate betrayal unravel of Coin and Plutrach at the end covered up for my hatred of not actually seeing Snow captured. I’ve never felt so much satisfaction than when Katniss killed the audacity of that woman to suggest another hunger games.
👍🏾 So glad she ended up with Peeta. I never really liked Gale. It’s just like it says, she had her own fiery spirit - her and Gale just didn’t ever flow together like her and Peeta. He was always the calm to her storm. I honestly could’ve done without Gale in the series in totality.

DISLIKES:
👎🏾 All of the build up and we didn’t even get to see President Snow or the Capital actual captured.

Overall, I’m sad to be finished reading the originally Hunger Games trilogy for the first time. Ending it on a high note with this last one being my favorite of the three.

It was more boring that the previous ones with all the promo filmings but the end was goos

Peeta is the star of the book, Katniss is one of those characters you can’t believe they let be in charge. Like cmon girl.

Wow this one was soo deep it made me cry at the end. It was so shattering but then really hopeful it was definitely the hardest to read but also the quickest one i read wow a great but sad end to this amazing trilogy!
