Very tense and creepy most of the time. The whole thing sort of creeps up on you and leaves you with this overall feeling of dread. I was going to give it a 4 since a lot of the plot beats felt predictable but some of the newer elements introduced in the second half/last third and the ending made me bump it up a lot. It felt a LOT like dark academia Heathers with heavy influences from a particular classic novel that gives a lot away if I mention it.

Oh my god I cannot spend another minute with this. The FMC comes off so whiny and self-pitying, her best friend is one of the most selfish, disrespectful, toxic and cringey edgelords I've ever read, and the bunnies are genuinely intolerable. This whole thing reads like something written in high school during the peak of someone's "I'm not like other girls" pick-me era. Maybe that's the whole point and I'm missing the forest for the trees here but I can't listen to another minute of how whiny and pathetic the FMC is. I'm not going to waste another nine hours of my life on this, I'm sorry but I just can't šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

This was a really odd book, and I don't mean that in a bad way.

I really loved some of the writing, especially the way some things are described or the vivid similes used. I read this really quickly and that was refreshing after my previous, long and emotional wrecking reads.

I reckon I have a fairly decent understanding of the story, but I do know that I could definitely delve deeper into it. However, I'm happy just having gone along for the ride and I don't really feel that compelled to dive into the contents of the book that much. I enjoyed the freaky, girly, strangeness to it and it did its job to fill me with such an odd feeling at times.

I didn't really understand the line at the end with the mud but that's ok.

This is one of those bizarre and unhinged books that you canā€™t really explain or even articulate your feelings for, but it was An Experience and you will constantly be telling other people to read it

Oh I loved this. It was twisted. It was surreal. It was weird. I found myself wanting to know more and hoping the protagonist put herself in danger to do so. šŸ˜¬ Normally Iā€™m like, ā€œno donā€™t go in thereā€ but this book was so intriguing I kept hoping sheā€™d go where she shouldnā€™t.
