This was actually a book that I could really relate to. It isn't true of my life, but my feelings!
I love Jodi Picoult! And although this wasn't one of my favorite of hers, I still have to give it to her! I love that she chose this unconventional story. Like all of her books. I love that she thinks outside the box.
Another engrossing read from Picoult, whose genre is controversial subjects turned into intriguing plots. This one's about "god" speaking to and through a small child -- who may or may not be able to raise the dead, heal mental illness, and suffer from stigmata. But like the other novels by Picoult I've read this one leaves me flat, or should I say unfaithful? Good book to read on an airplane, then pass along to another believer.
One of the most hauntingly amazing books I have ever read. Wonderful characters and perfect storyline, in my opinion the best of the amazing author Jodi Picoult.
When I started reading this, I wasn't sure I was going to like it because of the subject matter. I'm not generally a very religious person, so the thought of reading a whole book based upon it, was not very promising. But, Jodi Piccoult does such a good job of taking one topic and building such great characters, relationships and stories around it. Once the story got going....I couldn't put it down! Another great book from Jodi.
I usually love Jodi Picoult books and they resonate with me days after reading them but this one really didn't. I feel like it was building up to something that didn't happen and that there were several unresolved issues. Perhaps the Christianity slant tainted my view as I prefer not to read books with elements of religion overly held within them.
Still a fair read but not as good as many of her others.

Great book. Easy to read and get through, although in the middle there are a lot of names to keep track of (and I think some of these characters get forgotten by the end). The ending wrapped up a little too fast for my liking. I was already very invested in the story and characters, so I wouldn't have minded dwelling on their fates.
I have always found Jodi Picoult's books to be quick reads. But in a good way. She is a master at pacing stories, and inserting powerful metaphors you want to read over and over again.
This is interesting, because many of her stories follow the same basic narrative pattern. A protagonist gets involved in a problem, often having to do with children, and ends up having to fight in court for what they want. Along the way, said protagonist falls in love/gets involved with a person they shouldn't be attracted to, but are. Protagonist gets what they want and/or there is a twist that changes what they want or what they get.
But you keep reading anyway. She's just that good.

My grandmother lent me this (in super huge print)with the assurance that I would read it in a week. I read it in less. Overall, I liked this book. The story was intriguing and introduced a topic that was rarely tackled - stigmata. The breakdown of the family unit and the custodial secondry tones were handled well and the relationships for the most part were convincingly real. The only connection I struggled to comprehend was that between Faith's mother and the cheesy TV 'anti-Christ'. What a spineless and dottery character to go from one who makes a living out of rebutting God's graces to consequently abandoning his entire belief system and personality traits just because he has had a few choice moments with a pretty lady and her cute daughter. A badly formed character. I would also have liked to see more of an exploration of the religious undertones in this book.
This book really makes you think, beautifully written, one of my favourites by this author.
