Sour candy isnt really about much once you finish it. The reading for me was a very fun experience though i couldnt actually put it down. I started reading properly at 2pm and kept going for the rest of the day.

Creepy kids is never going to fail to scare me and this wasnt an exception, the way adam just seeps in on phils life. I did feel the ending wrapped things up nicely but i would've liked more. The best part for me was
when phil kills adam finally and for a little bit believes he truly is his son and that he did go crazy and i as the reader considered this too.
i know its meant to be short but i wouldve liked more as well. Maybe hundred pages or so.

I didn't realise that Burke is irish until I finished reading but that is very cool and I will try read more from him.

Phil Pendleton is making a mundane Walmart run when he witnesses a kid having an ear splitting meltdown in the aisle. His beleaguered mother definitely seems like she's seen better days. Fast forward a few hours later. After the mother commits a desperate act, this little shit is at Phil's house, claiming to be his son. And everyone believes him! There are even photos around the house of them together on vacations, etc, looking convincingly like father and son. Said little shit, Adam, seems to be able to bend the reality of Phil and everyone around him, and quickly takes over every aspect of Phil's life. Adam will only allow Phil to eat sour candies as his sole form of sustenance. Pretty soon he's in desperate need of a dentist, but that's the least of his troubles. Who or what is this kid, where did he come from, and what does he want with poor Phil? At under 100 pages, this is a tight, fast paced story that quickly descends into madness. You think things can't possibly get crazier but then they do. I read this book in about an hour, but it's gonna stick with me a lot longer than that.
