I finally made the decision to DNF this. I was so excited for it, but it was long and filled with so much extra (unimportant IMO) information, that I couldn’t make myself finish. I wanted to get through it because I liked the characters and their complexity, the dynamics between all the main characters, and the overarching story, but unless it has an editing overhaul I think I’m putting this one down for now.

It was very diverse and had some interesting fantasy world building I just didn't care for the way the actual sex scenes were written. There was no real connection.

Dragons, gender, mean sword lesbians, incredible world building. I usually can't follow fantasy worlds that well but this one was so easy to follow and conceptualise in my head! The story never felt too long (despite it being quite a few pages) and I'm excitedly reading the sequel as it comes out.

I read this book before it was published because I've followed Maya's work for ages. She is an incredible fantasy writer and the characters in this book are all so endearing and compelling. It took me quite a while to get through because I was quite busy at the time, but every time I picked it up it was so easy to get right back into it. Delightful read!
