This was almost a DNF but my curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to see where it was going. I’m going to read the rest of the series most likely because I am curious about how the plot plays out. The single star is for how repulsive the main character is. She’s giving off big homophobic vibes and racist vibes. I understand why she’s so prudish from a plot point of view but the other stuff feels unnecessary even if she’s from a small midwestern town. Just because a character is religious and from a small farming community doesn’t require them to be a total bigot. I’m hoping there’s room for that to change in the rest of the series because she has already show some growth in book one. If this series wasn’t free, even my insatiable curiosity would not be able to get me to read the rest of the series.
