It's a really strong debut, and a great alternative to most high fantasy set in a vaguely European-like continent.

Uwielbiam wielkie fantastyczne światy, uwielbiam niesztampowych bohaterów, uwielbiam zawiłe polityczno-dworskie intrygi. Ta książka właśnie to mi daje.

Niewiele czytałam książek fantastycznych osadzonych w realiach Bliskiego Wschodu, związanych z arabskimi wierzeniami, więc dla mnie jest to duży powiew świeżości.
Przedstawiony świat jest ogromny, z dużą ilością nowych dla mnie pojęć i nazw, przez co miałam wrażenie, że pierwsza połowa była dosyć wolna i wymagała większego skupienia. Jednak po zrozumieniu wszystkich mechanizmów kreowanego uniwersum książka po prostu mnie pochłonęła.

Czytając można poczuć gorące piaski pustyni, można zżyć się z bohaterami i przejmować ich losami. Dodatkowo książka bardzo często mnie po prostu zaskakiwała i nie mogłam z góry przewidzieć jak potoczą się wątki głównych bohaterów. Od razu po przeczytaniu zakupiłam kolejne dwa tomy i nie mogę się już doczekać, aż poznam dalsze losy postaci.
