Patti Smith is a very interesting human, who reminds me a lot of my high school journalism teacher. Just a try hippie through-and-through, in a honest and untrendy way. I can 100% understand the draw of creating a book such as A Book of Days. As a photographer and journaler myself, it seems very indulgent, yet satisfying to create. It includes one page for each day of the year, including leap day, with a short caption and a photograph. Most of the photographs are Patti Smith's but there's also random photos of celebrities and a small caption celebrating their birth or death days.

What a fascinating person Patti Smith is. Her photographs and short, often poetic captions give us a sense of her, but she is far too complex to fully understand. Many of the photos deal with artists and authors who are gone, her true family and her family of musicians, and philosophy about nature and life in general. Such an interesting mix.
