Aislinn has always had the ability to see faeries and is terrified of what that would mean if the fae found out. That is until one particular fae, Keenan, later revealed to be the Summer King, begins stalking her.
He is determined that she shall be his Summer Queen at any cost to save his kingdom.
With everything on the line, will Aislinn escape with her life?
This book is the first in a series and a modern twist on a faerie tale, but also is compelling from start to finish!

It was an interesting book with a good plot and I really enjoyed reading it.

Well I have to say that there was not one likeable thing about Keenan whatsoever. He spent the entire book being pushy, aggressive and borderline abusive towards Ash, only to decide at the very end of the book "Oh gee, I guess I've loved Don all along. Happy days!"
The only character I liked was Seth, and at least he got a happy ending so there's that.

2007: I really enjoyed the intersections between faerie mythology and the contemporary setting for this one (very similar to the urban fantasy style of Charles DeLint). Strong, smart and feisty female protagonists are always a bonus too.
Reread in 2024 to see how it has held up over time, and to see how it compares to current romantasy. It’s still a lovely urban fantasy setting with a good mix of lore and plot. I really appreciate the complexity of the love quadrangle and the agency several of the characters exert despite their fate/destiny constraints. It’s still a total page-turner, but I wasn’t wrapped up in emotion or romance as before. 2024 Verdict: still really like it, but don’t adore it. An A on the fantasy side and a B+ on the romance side.

I know I read this in college and enjoyed it but I couldn't get through it this time. Rolled my eyes so often that by halfway through I decided my time would be better elsewhere

I really had to push through this. The writing was lackluster—a lot of, “Keenan did this. Aislinn did that.” And there were typos galore (Kindle edition). The storyline wasn’t very compelling, and the author did a lot of telling instead of showing. I just didn’t feel connected to any of the characters or their potential outcomes. I definitely don’t want to read the other 4 books in the series.
Very interesting, would like to continue the series.
It was kind of entertaining at the beginning but it fell into a lot of the common tropes. The main character was one of the "I'm not like other girls" girls. It lost me around the end and I just didn't want to finish it. I read it on the recommendation by one of my friends but I think I've aged out of the ya genera. I believe it will do well with the demographic it's meant for and it had an interesting premise.
