I'm glad this was a book-club book. I don't think I would have moved past the first 100 pages otherwise. I found the first quarter of the book really slow and tedious. But if you can move past the the set-up, it's well worth the read. Not only is it a great historical account of past events, it brings up current issues of human rights, country responsibilities, and the horrors of war.

Fabulous! This was a wonderful (although horrifying) book of an amazing man whom I now admire so much. I loved the writing style and how much information was contained in the book, not just about Louie but about the people around him and the war in general that I was not aware of. So inspiring!
